The Weekend: ๐๏ธ Documenting Genocide, When the Night Feels Long, & Much more!๐
๐๏ธ Last Weekend of October!
As-salamu alaikum, DFW! We've reached the final weekend of Octoberโthe perfect time to soak up the beautiful fall weather and connect with your community. Whether you're planning a trip to the pumpkin patch or just looking for a cozy night in, your weekend guide is here! This edition is packed with the best community events, a fantastic Halal food spot for those crisp evenings, and ideas to make the most of your days off. Let's finish the month strong!
๐ The Beauty of Shukr
Sometimes we focus so much on what is missing that we overlook the countless blessings already present. Shukr (gratitude) is not just a feeling; itโs an action. When we sincerely express thanks to Allah, we acknowledge that every single thingโfrom a comfortable bed to a passing smileโis a gift. The Qur'an reminds us that if we are grateful, He will surely increase us in blessings.
Do: Before you close your eyes tonight, take just one minute to think of five specific, small blessings from your day. Don't list the big things (like health or family), but the simple, easily missed ones (e.g., a cup of hot coffee, no traffic on the highway, or a comfortable chair). Verbally say "Alhamdulillah" for each one. This simple exercise powerfully shifts your focus to abundance.
