🌿Assalamu Alaikum, Dallas!
This week we're spotlighting Palestinian Elegance, a family-owned DFW treasure that is keeping Palestinian heritage alive through breathtaking hand-embroidered thobes, abayas, kaftans, and bridal wear — now with three locations right here in the metroplex. We've also found your new favorite halal burger spot: Hamburgottis in Richardson is serving 100% halal smash burgers that are already turning heads, and the reel alone will have you in the car. Tonight's lineup is stacked for the brothers — MMA class with Ustadh Morad and Sheikh Oduro, a youth night in Sachse with gyros and open gym, and a back-to-school session for high schoolers in Allen. And Sunday brings one of the most beautiful acts of community worship we've seen on the calendar in a while — VRIC is reviving the Sunnah of Salatul Istisqa, the prayer for rain. Don't miss it. 🌿
💭 FAITH REFLECTION — Ask Bigger.
There is a habit many of us have developed without realizing it, we shrink our du'a. We ask for the small things, the manageable things, the things that feel reasonable to request. We hesitate to ask for the big stuff; the dream, the healing, the impossible-feeling outcome as if Allah might find our request too ambitious. As if we could somehow ask for too much.
Allah is “Al-Razzaq” or “The Provider”, he has the power to give us anything we ask of him.
Consider Zakariya (A.S.). He was an old man. His wife was barren. By every human measure, the window for having a child had long since closed. And yet — he asked. Not timidly, not apologetically, but with the full conviction of a man who knew exactly who he was asking.
"My Lord, do not leave me without an heir, though You are the best of inheritors." (Al-Anbiya: 89)
He didn't say: "I know this is impossible, but maybe..." He didn't preface his du'a with excuses or apologies for the audacity of his request. He simply turned to Allah and asked because he knew that what is impossible for humans is nothing for the One who created humans.
And Allah answered with a son named Yahya (A.S.) who was born to a man too old and a woman who had never conceived. The angels themselves brought the news while Zakariya stood praying in his chamber.
That is who you are making du'a to.
The Prophet ﷺ said: "When one of you asks Allah, let him ask for a lot, for he is asking his Lord, and nothing is too great for Allah to give." (Ibn Hibban) The One you turn to in du'a created the heavens and the earth with a single command. He splits seas, restores the dead to life, and turns the hearts of people in an instant. When you stand before Him with your hands raised, you are not standing before a limited power, you are standing before the One for whom nothing is difficult and nothing is too much.
And yet so many of us ask for parking spots and forget to ask for Jannah. We ask for relief from one problem and forget to ask for complete wellbeing in this life and the next. We let doubt shrink our du'a before it even leaves our lips.
This week's action: The next time you sit down to make du'a after salah, in sujood, on a Friday, or in any quiet moment challenge yourself to ask bigger than you normally would. Write a du'a list this week that includes the things you've been too shy or too doubtful to ask for out loud. Your health, your family, your rizq, your children's futures, your place in Jannah, the healing of something you've given up hope on, bring it all. Zakariya (A.S.) asked for a child when it made no logical sense. Allah answered. Ask Him your impossible thing. He is not burdened by your needs. He is waiting for you to bring them to Him.
❝ "Your Lord says: Call upon Me and I will respond to you." (Ghafir: 60) 🤍

BUSINESS SPOTLIGHT
🇵🇸 Palestinian Elegance

Keeping Palestinian Identity Alive, One Stitch at a Time
Every piece of clothing tells a story. But at Palestinian Elegance, that story runs generations deep. The business was born from the heart of Um Ameer Alhazma — a Palestinian refugee who grew up learning the art of tatreez, traditional hand embroidery, from her grandfather. She carried that knowledge and that love of heritage with her to the United States, and in 2021 she turned it into something the DFW community could be part of. What started as a single store in Richardson has grown into three thriving DFW locations — Richardson, Arlington, and now Plano — with over 1,000 verified five-star reviews from customers around the world and nearly 18,000 followers on Facebook. Palestinian Elegance is not just a clothing store. It's a living, breathing act of cultural preservation — one hand-embroidered thobe, one kuffiyeh, one bridal gown at a time.
The collection is breathtaking in its range and its craftsmanship. For women, you'll find hand-embroidered thobes, luxury abayas, flowing kaftans, bridal collections, jalabiyyas, matching mother-daughter sets, hijabs, and gold jewelry. For men, there are thobes, bishts, and accessories. For kids, there's a full selection too — because passing down heritage starts young. Inventory is sourced directly from Palestine and can be customized, including bridal attire tailored to a family's specific vision and style. Customers consistently describe the experience of wearing a Palestinian Elegance piece as something deeply personal — "Every time I wear it, I feel proud of my heritage," one customer shared. Another called their kaftan "absolutely breathtaking — I felt like a queen." Whether you're shopping for Eid, a wedding, a graduation, or simply want to wear your identity with pride — Palestinian Elegance is where DFW Muslims go to do it beautifully.
