Assalamu Alaikum, Dallas!
Happy first Friday of May, Dallas! We're kicking off the month with an issue that hits close to home — literally. This week we're shining a light on Ahmed and Uhmed, the brothers behind City Tire & Service in Garland, who've spent 30+ years proving that honest, hardworking service never goes out of style. We're also introducing you to Shibam Coffee in Richardson, where every sip feels like a cultural escape — and the weekend is packed with events for sisters, high schoolers, and families across DFW. Oh, and if Hajj has been on your heart lately, don't miss Sunday's Fiqh of Hajj workshop at IANT.
May is here — let's make it count. 🌿May is here — let's make it count. 🌿. 🌿
💭 FAITH REFLECTION — Is Your Heart Facing the Kaaba?
Dhul Hijjah is almost here. And even if you're not among those boarding a plane to Makkah this year, the season of Hajj belongs to every single one of us.
There's something deeply moving about the fact that millions of people — across every language, every background, every corner of the earth — will soon all turn in the same direction, answer the same call, and say the same words. Labbayk Allahumma Labbayk. Here I am, O Allah. Here I am.
"And proclaim to the people the Hajj; they will come to you on foot and on every lean camel; they will come from every distant pass." (Al-Hajj: 27)
Allah called, and humanity answered. He's still calling. The question is just whether we're listening — not just during Hajj season, but every day, in the ordinary moments of our ordinary lives.
This week's action: If you can, attend Sunday's Fiqh of Hajj workshop at IANT — even if Hajj isn't on your immediate horizon. Learning about it deepens your love for it. And if you can't make it, spend five quiet minutes this week making du'a for those who are going. Ask Allah to accept from them, and to write your name among those He calls to His house one day.
🔦 THIS WEEK'S TOP PICKS
Here's a quick look at what's inside this issue — don't miss any of it:

🎾 Sisters Sports Day — Saturday Morning (Plano) Badminton, pickleball, chai, and good company at the IACC Gym. No experience needed — just show up.

BUSINESS SPOTLIGHT
City Tire & Service

The Auto Shop That Treats You Like Family
Finding a mechanic you can trust feels like finding a unicorn. But for hundreds of Garland-area Muslims, that search ended the moment they walked into City Tire & Service.
They have been quietly taking care of Dallas's cars — and its community — for years. In the heart of Garland, they've built something rarer than a good oil change: a shop where you leave feeling like you were treated fairly.
What Do They Do?
Pretty much everything your car needs, at prices that won't make you wince. City Tire & Service handles:
🔧 Oil changes, tune-ups & engine diagnostics
🚗 Brake, suspension & transmission repairs
🌡️ AC work
🔩 New & used tires, rotations, balancing & alignments
📋 State inspections
Whether your check engine light just came on or you haven't rotated your tires since the last Ramadan — they've got you.
In a world full of shops that upsell and overcharge, City Tire runs on something different: honesty. Customers consistently praise the brothers for explaining exactly what needs fixing, what can wait, and what a fair price looks like. There's no pressure, no surprises on the bill, and no runaround. As one longtime customer put it, they're "truly an honest shop." In the auto repair world, that's everything.
