While the rest of the country is firing up the grill and watching fireworks, the DFW Muslim community is doing what it does best; gathering, connecting, and making the most of a long weekend together. We apologize for sending the newsletter late. The World Cup’s Egypt game had us all on the edge of our seats. Alhamdullilah, they won and the community is so excited! This week we're spotlighting Dr. Fadi Alass of Seashell Pediatrics, the board-certified pediatrician in Garland who has quickly become one of the most trusted names in our community for children's care. We've also got a brand new halal dining experience that just landed in Frisco — Levant BBQ is bringing the rich flavors of the Levant region to North Texas, and it sounds absolutely worth the drive. Besides that, the weekend is packed with some great events like a 4th of July carnival at ICF and a community breakfast at IANT on Sunday.
💭 FAITH REFLECTION — Keep Your Eyes on the Prize
The World Cup fever is real right now, watching thousands of fans pour every ounce of energy, emotion, and hope into cheering their team toward one ultimate goal is something beautiful. There's a lesson in that kind of focus.
Because we have a prize worth infinitely more than any trophy.
"And give good tidings to those who believe and do righteous deeds that they will have gardens beneath which rivers flow." (Al-Baqarah: 25)
Gardens, rivers, endless reward, and reunion with the people we love most. The pleasure of Allah. The greatest reward of all of course will be seeing Allah Himself.
Suhayb reported: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “When the people of Paradise enter it, Allah Almighty will say: Would you like anything more? They will say: Have You not brightened our faces? Have You not admitted us into Paradise and saved us from Hellfire? Then, Allah will lift the veil and nothing they are given will be more beloved to them than looking at their Lord Almighty.” The Prophet recited the verse, “For those who do good is the best and even more.” (10:26)
That is the ultimate prize, not just comfort and beauty, but Allah, seen and known, face to face.
The question is: are we training for it the way it deserves? The fans who travel across the world for a match, who memorize every player and every stat, who stay up through the night to watch, they're all in for something temporary. What would it look like to be even half that committed to what's eternal?
This week's action: Sit with Jannah as a real destination this week, not just a concept. Read a description of it. Make du'a for it by name. Let it pull you toward a good deed today the way a final score pulls a crowd to their feet. Keep your eyes on the prize that never expires.
